What a contrast though on Saturday night. After taking some friends into town to show them the delights of the big smoke, we got a taxi back to Lordship Lane only to witness a horrific fight outside Black Cherry Bar. Ironically we’d been there the night before and had a great evening, even chatting to some of the staff. We saw a man in his forties get kicked and punched and then a man and women lift up a picnic table and try to throw it through the window of the bar.

I heard another girl say she called the police when the trouble first started and they took half an hour to appear!!

Makes you wonder if East Dulwich Police station is really in action anymore….

I’ve read on various ED blog sites over the last few months (particularly http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/) that residents fear that East Dulwich is going towards the ‘yuppie’ feel of Clapham. Many love ED’s bohemian, non-commercial feel and resent the introduction of Foxtons and White Stuff.

The BBC has revealed the 13 contestants for the new series of their ’reality’ programme Castaway.

Among the selected few being sent out to Great Barrier Island, 50 miles from New Zealand, is East Dulwich resident Lucinda King.

    Lucinda (27) works as an events project manager and says she is disillusioned with city life. Surely not disillusioned with our beloved ED! The ex-convent girl added that ‘Men see me as someone they would like to be with. They’d like to experience a night with Lucinda’.

The castaways will spend 3 months on the island with limited shelter, food and water, and there will be no beds.

A far cry from city living, there will be no electricity, running water and they will have just one match to light a fire.

We hope Lucinda does ED proud (!)
